Step Up is supporting a UK-based materials group in hiring a Materials Technology Engineer – SCF for its China Materials Development team. Reporting to the Materials Development Lead in the UK, the role focuses on developing advanced polymer foaming technologies, with Supercritical Foaming (SCF) as a key area.

You will take new technologies from concept and feasibility through development, validation and scale-up, designing experiments, analysing data and solving material and process challenges. The role covers a broad range of foaming technologies and offers the opportunity to turn emerging processes into practical manufacturing solutions.

Working with equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, universities and development partners, you will evaluate new technologies and contribute to future technology development. You will also work closely with Materials Development, Manufacturing and other technical teams to support trials, process optimisation and manufacturing implementation.

We are looking for a materials or polymer professional with 8+ years’ relevant experience and a degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Practical experience in polymer processing, foaming or related manufacturing technologies is essential. Experience with SCF, physical or chemical foaming, scale-up or technology development would be highly relevant. Knowledge of DoE or Minitab would be an advantage.
